CSz 2012 World Championship Night One Recap
Last night kicked off the 2012 ComedySportz World Championship in Chicago.
Eight teams played last night in the beginning of the of the battle-royale that will leave one city's team the victor. In the 8pm show Manchester, UK was defeated by Los Angeles & The Downtown Chicago Bosses conquered the CSz founders, the Milwaukee Cheezeheadz!
In the Manchester/Los Angeles match the opening head-to-head round ended in an unprecedented tie, but after the game of "Telenovela" Los Angeles won the hearts of the audience and sent the UK crying for tea & crumpets.
Then the Bosses trounced the Cheezeheadz so hard they forgot the words to the theme from "Laverne and Shirley".
The 10pm match was reffed by the quit witted Minneapolis official Doug Neithercott, who called the games played by San Jose and Indianapolis high and tight. San Jose won the opening round of "Beastie Rap" and but was later topped by the Indy's Choice Round of "Back to Whenever" and reminded San Jose why their home team is actually called "The Disabled List" (yes, that's their team's actual name).
In the second half of the show the All-American Quad City Blackjacks took on the East Berlin Communists that almost started a second Cold War. The Blackjacks of the Quad Cities beat the lederhosen off the Commies in a CSz classic "Da-Doo-Ron-Ron".
Check out all of the matches yet to play at the Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N. Southport) tonight, Friday, & Saturday! Go to www.25yearz.com for more information!
