National retailer Macy's recently hired 60 of our talented improvisers to perform random acts of kindness on 9/11/06. This energetic group represented Macy's by handing out Krispy Kreme doughnuts, CTA passes, and bottled water to unsuspecting commuters with great success!

ComedySportz Announces Move to
The CCPA!
We're moving to The Chicago Center For Performing Arts!
We'll perform our main stage show 3 nights a week for the rest of '06 at the CCPA.
The show will debut in the Studio Playhouse at The CCPA Thursday, September 7th at 8pm.
Show times for 2006 are:
Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm
Saturdays at 6, 8 and 10pm

Chicago Gets Silver in The CSz World Championship Tournament!
From August 3rd - 5th ComedySportz Chicago battled 16 other ComedySportz teams from across the US and the UK for a chance to call themselves World Champs. The Chicago team consisted of veteran ensemble members Rich Prouty, Heather Simms, Kat Gotsick, and Steph DeWaegeneer. |

After a grueling three-day competition, the home team of San Jose squeaked out a one-point victory over Chicago by a score of 23 to 22. Steph DeWaegeneer comments, "Although we didn't win the trophy, we all had a fabulous time in San Jose. The support and response we got while going about town made the trip worth while."
Other highlights from the competition were ComedySportz founder Dick Chudnow performing in an all star show with other team managers from across the nation. Also, the entire ComedySportz ensemble sang the national anthem and threw the first pitch at a San Jose Giants minor league baseball game.
The 2007 ComedySportz World Championship Tournament will take place in the
Quad Cities (Rock Island, IL).

Kat and Erin Celebrate First Win on VH1!

As they advance to the next round Erin recaps their first win: "I didn't realize how nervous I looked at first. It was so much fun to see Kat and then Amber cheering me on from the sides - I had forgotten just how funny they were. Their stumble up the stairs was priceless."
Erin and Kat celebrated their win July 11th during a viewing party at Fizz Bar and Grill. Their next show airs on July 20th at 9pm CT. Make sure to tune in and cheer on Kat and Erin!

March Madness Winners Reunite!
The 3rd annual ComedySportz March Madness Tournament provided audiences with many hilarious moments as well as crowning a new championship team. The Penguins, consisting of ComedySportz ensemble members Bob Ladewig, Ross Bryant, and Ben Johnson, pulled off an unprecedented victory by winning all five matches and taking home the trophy and dethroning 2 time winner The Old School Players. |

On August 16th they intend to go for the gold again as they compete in the Short Form Summer Showdown at the Bailiwick Theatre. "The Summer Showdown show is a perfect venue to show just how well the Penguins work together. All of us are looking forward to the competition. 2006 is the year of the Penguins" states team member Bob Ladewig.
If you have not seen The Penguins yet, don't miss the opportunity to see these witty winners at the Bailiwick theatre. ComedySportz March Madness Tournament will return in March of 2007.

16 teams of 3 were flown to New York this spring to be crowned America's champions of pop culture and receive $100,000 in cash and prizes!
Categories range from "Family TV" to "1980's Teen Comedy Films." Each category will contain 10 rounds of questions increasing in difficulty.
Kat & Erin's debut on the show is Episode 2 on July 11. Be sure to watch the show and cheer on these great ComedySportz ladies!

AUDITIONS FOR BATTLE-PROV
AND THE PROFESSIONAL ENSEMBLE
This term, the auditions for Battle-Prov and the professional ComedySportz ensemble will be held as the same process. If you are interested in joining a Battle-Prov team and/or joining the professional company, you should block this time off in your schedule.
There are two audition times:
- Sunday, March 5th, 3pm-6pm
- Tuesday, March 7th, 7pm-10pm
NEW Time Slot Added:
- Saturday, March 4th, 10am-12noon
You must be available for one or the other of these slots for the entire time period. To get an audition slot, please call Matt at 773-549-8080 or e-mail him at matt@comedysportzchicago.com. You must contact us to reserve a spot in the audition.
Likewise, if you are called back, you must be available for:
- CALLBACKS - Wednesday, March 8th, 7pm-10pm.

Summer Intensive planned for High School / College Students
Designed for beginning improvisers who want to strengthen their short-form improvisational skills, the ComedySportz Training Center will offer a one week intensive version of our "Fundamentals of Improv" class. |

Beginning with an inside look at our critically acclaimed show, ComedySportz, students will participate in over 24 hours of instruction with a member of our professional faculty, and apply their training in a public showcase on their final day.
SUMMER INTENSIVE:
Runs Saturday, June 24th - Wednesday, June 28th.
Cost: $275
ALSO: Students interested in directing short-form are invited to participate in our DIRECTING SUPPLEMENT, an additional day of instruction focused on how you can stimulate immediate progress with your own ensemble.
DIRECTING SUPPLEMENT:
Thursday, June 29th, 11am-11pm - includes attendance at a ComedySportz performance.
Cost: $75 with Summer Intensive.
Directing Supplement available for $125 by itself.

Dates and brackets for ComedySportz's 3rd Annual March Madness double elimination tournament have been set for March 2 - April 1, 2006. Matches will run Thursdays at 8pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30pm. The final, championship matches will take place on Saturday, April 1 at 8 and 10:30pm. |

The ComedySportz Training Center presents: Jen Ellison WNEP Artistic Director and ComedySportz Faculty Member Sunday, February 19th, 2006 3pm-6pm
A comprehensive evaluation of your audition package:
- headshot & resume
- improv strengths and weaknesses from an audition
- do's and don't's from the time you walk in to the auditorium hall
This elective is essential for anyone planning to attend an improv audition. Be it for ComedySportz, The Second City, pH, Playground Incubators, or any one of several independent groups auditioning improv talent around the city - learn the tricks that you don't learn in normal improv classes.

The ComedySportz Theatre is partnering with Chicago Poetry Slam creator Marc Smith to present "Poetry Sportz". The show will combine four local poets and four ComedySportz ensemble members in an exciting mix of interactive improv games that explore poets and poetry. PoetrySportz features ensemble members Sam Super, Joanna Buese, Mary Jo Bolduc and Keith Whipple.
